X-ray uses radiation to create an image that reflects the soft and dense tissues and skeletal structures inside the body. Because of advances in X-ray technology, NRC with Stamford Health no longer recommends the use of lead apron shields. Current X-ray equipment uses much lower doses of radiation, and new research shows that the shields offer no real benefit.
A referral is required to schedule an X-ray; all results will be communicated through the referring physician.
